15-inch MacBook Pro Battery Recall Program

In recent news, Apple has determined that, in a limited number of older generation 15-inch MacBook Pro units, the battery may overheat and pose a fire safety risk. Affected units were sold primarily between September 2015 and February 2017 and product eligibility is determined by the product serial number.

If you believe you’re MacBook Pro might be one of the affected units, you can easily determine it through Apple’s website with your serial number. If affected, you call follow the steps provided on their website to get a free replacement!

Finding Your Serial Number

You can find your serial number by several means.

  • You can choose the About This Mac option on your MacBook from the Apple Menu to determine the serial number
  • Physically on your MacBook, often on the underside! (One handy tip for this is to lift up your device, and take a clear photo with your phone of the serial number so you don’t have to keep lifting it up!)

Once you have your serial number, submit onto Apple’s website and cross your fingers you’re not affected!

If your device IS affected, simply follow the replacement process on Apple website.
