3 Sites That Will Bring Out Your Inner Artist

EMBRACE YOUR ARTSY SIDE
with these three handy websites!

We all have an artistic side. A lot of the time, we want to explore this side, but we feel like we simply don’t have the resources to do it. I’ve always wanted to knit a scarf for my mum, but I don’t know how!

Luckily for us, we have the ever-reliable Internet at our disposal. With the Internet comes a plethora of useful websites; an infinite resource of information. Here are three handy websites you can use to explore your creative side!

YOUTUBE

YouTube is one of the most revolutionary sites of the 21st century. It’s a video-sharing website that was built on the idea that everyone and anyone can publish and share video content online.

People of all ages go on YouTube to watch videos, publish videos, and in some cases, pursue an actual career. Though the site encapsulates many, many purposes, one neat application of YouTube is using it to teach and learn. For instance, if you want to learn how to knit, it’s as easy as typing “How To Knit” into the YouTube search bar and watching a video tutorial!

From arts and crafts, to cooking, to makeup, to music, there’s almost no limit to how many things you can learn to do on YouTube. Next time you’re inspired to create something you have no idea how to make, type “youtube.com” into your browser!

PINTEREST

If you’re looking for arts and crafts inspiration, Pinterest is the place to go. Pinterest is a photo-sharing website, where users can post, view, and save photos. It has a feature called a “Pin It” function, which allows you to “Pin” certain photos you find to your Pinterest board.

The significance of Pinterest is that it is widely used to share creative, artsy ideas and inspire that in others. As an example, I remember scrambling for a DIY gift idea for my boyfriend on our one-year anniversary last year. I turned to Pinterest, and found this:

It was perfect! I went out, picked up some wrapping paper, searched YouTube for tutorials on how to fold those little envelopes, and voilà! I made this Pinterest idea my own.

You too can use Pinterest to look for DIY ideas, as well as share your own with the world!

ETSY

Last but not least, we have Etsy. Ever heard of eBay? Well, Etsy is like eBay’s artsy cousin.

Etsy is an e-commerce website for artists and creative souls to sell their items to the public online. These items can be handmade crafts, paintings, vintage collections, customised clothing, and just about anything you’d consider art! I personally use Etsy to find non-official merchandise, like cute Star Wars t-shirts that I wouldn’t be able to find elsewhere.

Cute! Our good friend, Sandra, made these adorable beaded necklaces to sell on Etsy!

If you’re on the hunt for a unique gift for a loved one, Etsy is a great place to find it.

On the other hand, if you’re looking to make a little extra dollar, and you’re proud of your craftwork, get an account on Etsy and sell, sell, sell! So often does our artwork go unappreciated… Etsy will allow you to grow your own fun, little arts business online!

Interested in pursuing this side of Etsy? Come along to our SELLING ON ETSY workshop to learn all about the ins and outs of this crafty website! Send us an email to find out more.
