Boost Your Phone’s Speaker Volume With Just A Cup
BOOST THAT VOLUME
With only a cup or mug
For those of us who don’t have Bluetooth speakers, or even any kind of speaker it can be a little hard to hear your phone’s speaker when you’re listening to music out loud. Sometimes maxing out the volume just doesn’t cut it.
Don’t fret! Because there’s a very simple and low-tech way of boosting the sound of your phone’s speaker. Just put it in an empty cup or mug like in the above picture.
It’s that simple!
When you put your phone in a glass or porcelain cup, what happens is the sound waves bounce around a little and are directed up and out, amplifying the volume a small amount. Just make sure the cup is empty and dry to avoid any liquids splashing your phone.
If you’re trying this out, here are some tips to get the best boost:
- Use a glass or procelain cup or mug for the best boost. Plastic still works, just not as well.
- Make sure your phone is simple resting in the cup, you shouldn’t be forcing it in!
- Place your phone so the speaker is at the bottom. For iPhone this typically means putting it right side up (like in the picture). For Android, you’ll usually want it upside down as the speaker is on the top of the phone.
- Try different shaped cups and mugs. Small changes in the shape of the cup can have big affects on the sound.
