Medisafe App
A way to track medications

It is estimated 67% of Australians are on some sort of prescription medication with the need for medication increasing with age. Unfortunately, a fair proportion of this 67% do not take medications as prescribed, leading to adverse health outcomes.

Medisafe is an app that can be downloaded onto your phone to track these medications as well as other useful features for tracking health conditions. This is beneficial for both personal use and also to communicate any concerns or issues with health professionals.

How to Download Medisafe
Medisafe can be downloaded from the app store on iPhone or the Google Play Store on Android. Once downloaded, you will need to create an account and follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Medisafe app
  2. Click ‘Get Started’ or ‘Log In’ if you already have an account
    • If you have an account, log in with your email and password. No further steps are required
    • Further steps will be needed if you click ‘Get Started’
  3. Click ‘Create my profile’
  4. Enter information requested and click ‘Done’. This will include your first and last name, date of birth, and gender.
  5. Choose what you would like to use Medisafe for
    • This includes receiving medication reminders, tracking medication intake, keeping a list of meds, refill times, drug interaction, tracking side effects/symptoms, and tracking measurements.
    • You can select more than one. You will also be able to access all features regardless of if they are selected or not, this is just to customise the experience.
  6. Enter an email and password to create an account
  7. Once created, you will be able to add your specific medications

Different Features of Medisafe
Tracking Medications
A way to set reminders to be sent for all medications. These can be set up to recur daily, every few days, or a custom amount of times per day. If multiple people in a household take medications, you can also set up family tracking. This is very useful as a parent since, to use the app, you must be at least 18 years old.

Additionally, you can also set up refill and appointment reminders. Details for professionals can be added within the app and calls made directly from the app.

Measurement Trackers
Medisafe offers different measurement trackers for things such as weight, glucose, blood pressure, and more. The app can also be linked with Smart Watches and Healthkit for easier tracking of levels.

Drug Interaction Warnings
If you’re receiving care from multiple health professionals, it can be difficult to keep track of all the medications and interactions. Although they strive to do their best to ensure safe care, occasionally things can be missed. Medisafe will warn users of any potential harmful drug interactions and flag them.

Resources to Current Research and Information
Depending on what you are tracking, Medisafe will recommend current research and information under the ‘Updates’ tab. Sources for this information will also be linked.

Diary Notes
Similar to health trackers and measurements, you can also add general notes for experience of symptoms, health events, and other important medical information. When creating a note, it will automatically show the date and time it was added. You can also select what type of note it is eg. allergy, emergency, mood etc.

As always, if you need help setting this up we at ReadyTechGo can assist! We’re contactable via phone on (03) 9434 2020 or email at hello@readytechgo.com.au
