COVID-19 Scams To Watch Out For

CORONAVIRUS SCAMS TO WATCH OUT FOR

As scammers do what they usually do, they’re now using COVID-19 and coronavirus as a means of exploiting innocent people.

The process is still the same as most other scams. They pretend to be somebody trustworthy such as your bank use a plausible excuse such as fraudulent activity on your credit card to scare you into acting, and then present a link for you to click on to solve the problem.

In the example to the right, they’re using COVID-19 as a ways to scare you, hoping you’ll click on their link that’ll take you to their website where they’ll no doubt ask you to put in your personal details.

If you receive a text like this, just ignore it! You can also submit a screenshot of the text to Scamwatch which is a government website that helps keep track of scams and keep the public informed.

They actually have a full list of COVID-19 & coronavirus related scams that you can check out and keep yourself on top of what the scammers are trying.
