Hot New Email Scam

ANOTHER SCAM EMAIL?

ONCE AGAIN, SCAMMERS ARE IN OUR EMAILS

Persistence is key apparently, especially when it comes to scams!

We’ve had one of our clients forward us an email that they were unsure about. See if you can spot the one key discrepancy as to why it’s a scam email.

Can’t see it?

At the start of the email, they’ve addressed it to “User ID” instead of John!

This is a tell-tale sign as the scammer’s email was sent without checking any details. If Hotmail had really sent the email, they would address it to the name you choose when you signed up.

Commbank has this handy article on their website all about Hoax emails and SMS messages. While it only pertains to scammers pretending to be Commbank, their tips and tricks about spotting them are superb!
