How to access your Gmail with Outlook

ACCESSING YOUR GMAIL WITH OUTLOOK

NEEDS A COUPLE EXTRA STEPS

You may have run into this problem before. You open up Microsoft Outlook, sign in with your Gmail account and no luck! You’re 100% sure you put in the right password but you still can’t get your emails.

Don’t worry. This is normal and there’s an easy fix for it.

The cause of the issue is that Gmail requires what is called two-factor authentication which automatically happens when you use a web browser or an iPhone email app. However, Outlook doesn’t do this and so Google ‘blocks’ the login attempt by Outlook.

To enable Outlook to access your Gmail, you’ll need to follow the steps that Google have provided. You’ll want to use option 2!

The steps are as follows:
1.) Sign into https://myaccount.google.com/ with your Google Account.
2.) On the left hand side panel, click Security.
3.) Near the bottom of the security page will be the Less Secure App Access panel. You’ll then need to click on Turn on Access.

This will then allow you to sign into Microsoft Outlook and access your gmail emails from it. Easy as that.
