Scammers Just Won’t Quit! New Scams To Watch Out For….

THOSE SCAMMERS JUST DON’T STOP!

THERES A NEW SCAM POPPING UP EVERYDAY.

Well, I have to give credit to all the different ways the scammers try and scam people. It does take creativity.

This week, we’ve seen several new scams pop up, emails scams and text message scams sent directly to your mobile phone.

Take a look below, and see if you can pick them out!

YOUR UPCOMING PHONE CALL WITH APPLE SUPPORT

This email looks pretty legitimate!
When you hover open the links such as “Edit” and “Open this Case” they direct you to the actual Apple website.

The tell tale signs that this is a scam is the email address of the sender. It is not coming from a “@apple.com” email.

THANK YOU! YOUR PAYMENT HAS BEEN ACCEPTED – ORDER: 363966

This is a typical email where they make you think an invalid purchase has been made on your credit card.

Again, the tell tale sign is the fake email address, and they have attached an “invoice”, which is a malicious file that they are hoping you will open.

It can be very difficult to tell a fake email, unless you have seen the legitimate email.
Here are some important things to note about legitimate emails:

  • If you have made a legitimate App Purchase, the receipt will always come from “iTunes Store“
  • It will always contain your personal information in the “Bill To:” section.

The fake email above did not contain any personal information.

Below is an example of a legitimate iTunes Receipt from Apple

It’s scary how hard it is to identify these scam emails!

FAKE TEXT MESSAGES FROM PRIVATE NUMBERS

Scam text messages are circulating from private numbers with messages such as “A caller has left you a message”. Again, it looks legitimate.
However real messages from your Telco will usually state the Voicemail number such as 321 as the sender.

We hope this information is helpful, and please forward this to friends and family so they are aware of these scams. If you’re ever in doubt, please give us a call or email us, we’re always happy to help!

We have lots of EXCITING NEWS to announce!
