3 Tips to Reduce Blur in Photos You Take on Your Phone

BLURRY PHOTOS

With the addition of some pretty high-tech cameras in our phones, taking photos has never been easier. However the bane of a photo’s existence is blur!

While blurry photos can look good for an art piece, they’re no good when you can’t even tell if your subject is smiling or frowning. That’s why with these three tips, your photos should turn out crystal clear each time.

1. Focus

On modern phones, when you take a picture it’ll automatically focus. While your phone can take a good guess at what you’re taking a picture of, it can often think you’d rather focus on the background than the people on it!

That’s why you can force you camera to focus on the subject of your choice.

All you need to do is tap the screen right before you take a photo where you want the camera to focus.

2. Clean your lens

With technology getting more and more advance we often forget some manual solutions.

One reason why your photos are turning out blurry is because there might be something on the lens!

Simply take a smooth cloth or even a tissue and gentle wipe your camera lens to remove fingerprints and dust. (You’ll be surprised how this simple solution helps!)

3. Camera Shake

Sometimes your photos are blurry because your phone is moving as you take it! While cameras are fast, they’re not that fast yet.
Every movement you make as you take a photo could cause some blurriness.

The best solution is to grip the phone with two hands and if possible rest your elbows on a solid surface. This gives your phone two contact points with a solid surface so movement and therefore blur should be less.

TIP: On most smartphones, the volume buttons on the side of the phone will also act as the Capture button!
Have fun taking photos!
