  • Save Your Device From Water Damage

Save Your Device From Water Damage

AVOID WATER DAMAGE

Save your device from water damage!

If you accidentally spill water on your device,  you can save it! The best advice we have is to turn the device off right away and then completely cover it in uncooked rice. You’ll want to leave it a minimum of 48 hours.

What this does is by turning it off you’re preventing it from short-circuiting and when you submerge it in the rice, the water will slowly be drawn out into the rice instead of your device. Then when your device turns back on, it won’t short-circuit.

Note this only works with just water! If it’s something like juice or soft-drink, it’ll leave behind some residue and ruin your device. Best to get a professional to look at it.

TRAINER SPOTLIGHT

Get to know our very own Emma Dabb

Our Trainers are the faces of ReadyTechGo, and they all have great stories to share about why they do what they do!

In this weeks Trainer Spotlight, get to know Emma!

Emma has been with ReadyTechGo for almost 2 years now and in that time she’s taught a lot of things to a lot of people!

Because of this we’ve decided to feature her in our newsletter this week. We hope to go through all of the trainers in our team so that even if you’ve only met one or two of them, you’ll know them all!

What’s your favourite piece of technology and why?
My favourite piece of technology is my iPhone. I do everything with it! Banking, email, social media and more and it fits in my pocket!

Where is the best place you’ve travelled to and why?
The best place I’ve ever travelled to is Mexico. From beautiful Cancun with magic beaches to the historic and history rich Tulum. Although I’m off to Italy next month, so I could have a new favourite!

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
If I could, I’d learn to speak another language fluently. I think it would be amazing to be able to converse with a whole new community of people.

What is your favourite movie?
My favourite movie is Dirty Dancing. I love to dance, particularly latin dancing. Salsa and cha cha cha are my favourite styles. Watching this movie at the age of 12 started a life long passion for dancing.

If you could choose anyone, who would you pick as your mentor?
I would pick Oprah as a mentor. Her ability to overcome so many challenges and obstacles in her life and to achieve such success is awe inspiring to me.

When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
When I have 30 minutes of spare time I’ll play or walk my beautiful English Staffs puppy.

Who was the most memorable client you’ve seen and why?
Miriam is my most memorable client. 83, partially blind, limited movement and living with dementia and she had the most positive attitude. She was a pleasure to work with. Her first request was to learn to play solitaire online and she picked this up easily.

What’s something that might surprise us about you?
Something that might surprise you is that I come from a psychology background. I’m a human behavioural specialist and I coach clients in getting more out of life. I’m passionate about empowering people.

Any words of wisdom you’d like to give to somebody who may not be confident with technology?
If an 80-something person with limited movement, partially blind and living with dementia can learn to use technology- anyone can! Plus my 70 year old mum is on Facebook and Instagram. Be brave, give it a go and enjoy the new world that will open up to you.
