Closing Apps on an iPhone

CLOSE THOSE APPS

Apps that remain open could be slowing your phone down

Years of using computers have taught us that having a lot of programmes run at once will slow the computer down. Which makes sense as a computer can only do so much, it’s like trying to move platter of food. The more dishes or ‘apps’ you put on the platter, the slower you have to move in order to make sure nothing falls.

That’s why it’s important to fully close an app after using it. Pressing the home button or swiping out of the app doesn’t actually close it, it just runs in the background.

But don’t fret! Closing apps is a simple process.

IPHONE X

1.) Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the app switcher. Your open apps will be represented as cards like below.

2.) Swipe sideways to scroll through your apps until you find the one you want to close

3.) Swipe up on the app you want to close. It’ll disappear off the screen when it’s closed.

4.) When you’re done closing apps, click on a blank part of the screen to return to the home screen, or tap on an app to go to that app.

IPHONE 8 OR EARLIER

1.) Double press the Home Button (The physical button at the bottom of the phone) to open the app switcher. Your open apps will be represented as cards like below.

2.) Swipe sideways to scroll through your apps until you find the one you want to close

3.) Swipe up on the app you want to close. It’ll disappear off the screen when it’s closed.

4.) When you’re done closing apps, click on a blank part of the screen or the Home Button to return to the home screen, or tap on an app to go to that app.
