SCREENSHOTS

TAKING A PHOTO OF YOUR SCREEN

Often you may have something on your computer or phone screen that you just want to save as an image but the ‘Save-As’ function isn’t helping. This could be because it’s an email you want to save a picture of or it’s a combination of both text and pictures. Often it’s easier to save a whole page of information as an image than it is to write it all down.

This function is referred to as ‘taking a screenshot’ and it can be done on all sorts of devices without a camera!

ON A WINDOWS COMPUTER

  1. Go to the screen that you wish to screenshot.
  2. Press the “Printscreen” key on your keyboard. This will take a screenshot of your entire screen.
  3. To access this image, you can go into Paint, and then click on “Paste” or press and hold “Ctrl” and “V” on your keyboard.
  4. Save the image in Paint to save the screenshot onto your computer.

OR

  1. Hold down “Shift”,  “Windows Key”, and “S”.
  2. The screen will turn a little white and your mouse will turn into a cross.
  3. Move your cursor to the very top-left corner of your screen, and click and hold down on your mouse while dragging the cursor to the very bottom-right corner of your screen.
  4. Let go of your mouse. To access this image, you can go into Paint, and then click on “Paste” or press and hold “Ctrl” and “V” on your keyboard.
  5. Save the image in Paint to save the screenshot onto your computer.

  3. Move your cursor to the very top-left corner of your screen, and click and hold down on your mouse while dragging the cursor to the very bottom-right corner of your screen.
  4. Let go of your mouse.

ON AN IPHONE/IPAD

  1. Go to the screen you wish to screenshot.
  2. Hold down your Home button and your On/Off button at the same time for about 2 seconds.
  3. The screenshot will automatically be saved in your Photos.

ON AN ANDROID PHONE

Activating this function will vary depending on the type of Android phone you have. Try out the different methods to see which one works on your phone.

  1. Go to the screen that you wish to screenshot.
  2. Press and hold down your On/Off button and your Volume Down button at the same time.

OR

  1. Press and hold down your Home button and your On/Off button at the same time.
  2. The screenshot will be automatically saved in your Photos.

Check your photos to see if the screenshot was saved for whichever method you attempted.
