Check your local library
As the world expands and technology gets more common it’s often hard to imagine local businesses and establishments keeping up!
One such establishment that comes to mind is your local library. When we think of libraries, we think of long rows of shelves with an endless amount of books, all free to borrow! With the modern age comes modern mediums for books. I’m speaking of course of audiobooks and eBooks. But what are they?
An audiobook is a book or novel that is read out to you by a narrator. So you’d be using speakers or earphones to listen and be read to.
An eBook is a book that can be accessed on your personal devices such as a smartphone or tablet. It gives the same feel of reading without the restriction of carrying around the books. Somebody could have 100’s of books on their phone ready to read at a moment’s notice.
Modern libraries are expanding to include these new mediums so ask your local library how to do so.
One example that was bought to our attention was the Eastern Regional Libaries whom allow any Victorian resident to sign up for free and browse and borrow ebooks and audiobooks for free!
But how does that work if everything’s digital?
The way Eastern Regional Libraries does it is exactly the same as if you were physically borrowing the book. If somebody else has it borrowed and there are no more copies, you just have to wait for them to return it.
So go out there and explore the new world of ebooks and audiobooks! Perfect for when you’re stuck on the train or bus.
