GETTING FIT & HEALTHY WITH YOUR TECHNOLOGY

How your technology can give you an extra edge
Every year, I make a resolution to “get fitter”. Last year, I told myself I would walk more if I got myself a FitBit. I never got around to purchasing one, but I did get a new smart phone… one that has a health app built into it.
I played around with this app, and discovered that my phone can record:
- Steps taken per day
My food intake
Calories burnt
Weight
and much more!
I set myself a goal of: 10,000 steps per day.
It’s amazing how seeing my actual steps taken makes me want to walk more! One evening, I got home and I was 3,000 steps short of my goal. I then went for a 2 hour walk! When I got home, I was 80 steps short of my goal!!!
So, I walked around my house in circles. Not recommended!
I felt quite dizzy after 5 rounds and had to stop! But I achieved my goal 🙂
If you have an iPhone or Samsung phone, it is likely that you have this Health app. If not, you can always download health apps such as:
-Moves
-MyFitnessPal
If you’re not sure how to get these apps set up, or which apps to download, come along to our GET APPY WORKSHOP in February!
The app is always on, so there’s no need for you to start and stop it. It works as long as you have your smartphone with you.

Now that you’ve logged your activities with MOVES, log your diet and exercise with MY FITNESS PAL
With over 5,000,000 foods in their food database, you can quickly record your daily food intake.
You can share your food diary with friends, and keep each other on track!
