What’s the Difference Between the ‘Backspace’ and ‘Delete’ Keys?

BACKSPACE VS DEL

What’s the difference?

We often get asked this question.

Both the Backspace and Del keys are used to delete text.

On your keyboard, pressing Backspace will delete the types character to the left of the blinking insertion cursor.

Pressing Del will remove the character to the right of the blinking insertion cursor

MY TEXT IS DELETING AS I TYPE

Another question we often get asked concerns text disappearing as you’re typing. This is often the cause when you click back into the middle of your sentence or paragraph and as you type, it replaces what was there with what you’re typing.

The cause for this is that the Insert button must have accidentally been pressed. To go back to normal, simple press it again!
